Worms:

They are the most common of the health problem and the worms can be of any type like Tapeworms, Roundworms and Hookworms. Mostly these problems can be easily treated with the medications. But if they are not treated in time it can prove very fatal.

Hairball:

These are other common problems in cats. The cats like to keep clean and they tend to groom themselves. While grooming themselves they are likely to swallow the hair which is removed from their bodies and this can prove fatal as it can get stuck into their digestive tract and can block their stools instead of passing through their stools. This is a problem which the cats usually solve themselves as they cough up the balls which they have swallowed.

Sometimes, it can become a problem as the hairball can get stuck into the intestine and create a block which is a very serious problem and the cat can loose the life. The signs to look are for the cat being constipated and is not eating properly you can take him to the veterinary doctor who can help. To prevent this you can remove the loose hair by brushing your cat two to three times a week and removing all the loose hair on the skin.

Urinary tract infection:

This also is one of the common health hazard experienced by the cats and it is more prevalent in the male cats but the female cat can also suffer from this problem. You can easily find out if your cat is suffering from this problem when their urine starts to smells strong. The vet can clear this problem with medication.

Feline leukemia:

Earlier the leukemia was the main reason the cats death but now the vaccines are available which can treat the cat. Once they have the leukemia the cats do not have much to live even though they will not die immediately but the death will come. Once you know you cat is suffering from Leukemia do not allow other cats to be near the cat as this is highly contagious and the virus can spread to the other cats.

To avoid this you can take your cat for a regular check up to the vet and give him all the shots they need. If you cat is a outdoor cat there is more likelihood of them getting affected with these diseases but taking them to the vet for their regular check up will keep them healthy and you can enjoy their company for many years.
